Community Workshop
Join us for a special hands-on workshop as part of the upcoming Blooming Suburbs exhibition, where we celebrate the stories and flora of our beloved Victoria Park community. This free 2-hour workshop invites you to learn the art of flower pressing while contributing to a unique communal artwork that will be featured on the day of the exhibition.
Date: Saturday, 28th September
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Victoria Park Community Centre, 248 Gloucester St, East Victoria Park
Event: Free
Under the guidance of local pressed flower artist Joanna, you’ll learn how to press flowers using a traditional wooden flower press. Bring a piece of your home—whether it's a bloom from your garden, meaningful foliage, or even store-bought flowers that hold special significance to you. After the workshop, Joanna will take the flower presses home to dry (a process that takes 3-6 weeks).
All the flowers and foliage pressed on the day will then go towards creating a communal artwork, which will be exhibited at Claude St. on Friday, 22nd November. If you’re unable to attend but still wish to be part of this collaborative artwork, you can drop off your flowers or foliage before the workshop begins at the Vic Park Community Centre. We’ll ensure they’re pressed during the workshop and included in the final piece. This event is proudly supported by the Vic Park Community Centre.
Let’s come together to capture the essence of our neighbourhood in a beautiful and lasting way!
Please note that tickets are limited and compulsory to attend the workshop.
